But, after all, what skills are these? To answer this question, nothing better than the word of an expert on the subject. With that in mind, we created this content in partnership with Andressa Felcar de Souza, Career Manager at EAD Unicesumar.

Check out everything you need to know about the topic below!

What to expect from the job market for 2023?

Andressa points out that new professionals should expect “a lot of transformation and adaptation”. According to her, the time is for significant changes, and the coming years tend to show this with increasing clarity. “We must prepare for the new, new challenges, new projects, new work methodologies”, he explains.

With regard to the so-called skills of the future, it is important to keep in mind that the possibilities now are many. Anyone who wants to understand the demands of the job market must, for a start, get to know the new technologies. Depending on the area of expertise, it may be important to know how to use these tools to a greater or lesser extent.

However, the common point for all professionals is that it will be necessary, at least, to know the technologies and understand what they do and their working dynamics.

An example of this is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The innovative power of AI can be applied in so many ways that the professional of the future should not think of it as just another machine of the past, but rather understand how it alters the needs and work interactions of the teams that use it.

Of course, the computer scientist or software engineer needs to know how to take advantage of it. The point, however, is that even administrators, doctors and designers, for example, must be adapted to the presence of these technological solutions. After all, they influence the routine of all areas.

This brings us to the heart of the discussion: the skills of the future and their importance.

What are the Skills of the Future?

More broadly, Andressa defines this concept as the ability to “be prepared for the new, relentlessly seek updates, prepare for the future and look at where you are and where you want to go”. This helps to understand a little something important: you have to be flexible and be willing to learn new things throughout your career.

Looking at the issue in more detail, the Career Manager at EAD Unicesumar highlights 4 other skills. Pay attention to developing them in your training!

1. Empathy

Remember that we mentioned how Artificial Intelligence can be used by only one team, but that, even so, the others must understand the basics of its operation? Add this to the flexibility to learn new things and see that empathy becomes an essential concept for future professions.

According to Andressa, this means “ understanding the other, creating a favourable environment for everyone, understanding how the other feels”. In practice, we are talking about different teams or companies, each with its own objectives, as well as very different technologies and methods. We need to have empathy for communication to flow, and for these people to be able to work together.

2. Multidisciplinarity

Being willing to learn new things also involves opening up to new areas. “Going beyond what we are prepared for is one of the challenges of the future”, explains Andressa. “Expertise in something is important, but you should also know several disciplines and add extra value to the business”, he recommends.

3. Emotional intelligence

Another important point is to be in control of yourself to overcome challenges. “In the face of a society that changes all the time and very quickly”, explains Andressa, “it is important to remain emotionally firm , focused on your purposes, aligned with the company’s objectives, without being easily shaken”.

4. Creativity

Having mastery of knowledge, it is important to be creative to put it into practice. “Innovation is the key to the business: be bold, present different experiences to the work environment”, concludes Andressa.
